Tim Hartnett, PhD

General Bio: Tim Hartnett is a facilitator, mediator and family therapist. He is author of the book Consensus-Oriented Decision Making (New Society Publishers, 2011). Tim holds a doctorate in counseling psychology and a California license in Marriage and Family Therapy. He has facilitated a wide variety of community and non-profit groups for over twenty-five years. He combines best practices from the fields of professional facilitation, conflict resolution, and non-violent communication to help groups find the widespread agreement they need to work together well.

Tim is also well-versed in cooperative living. In 1991 he co-founded an intentional community, where he and his partner raised a family and continue to live. Tim loves the excitement and sense of connection available in well-functioning groups. And he enjoys helping groups reach this potential through effective collaborative decision-making. Additional Information: As I have diversified my work to cross disciplines, I am a member of multiple professional organizations, including the International Association of Facilitators, the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation, and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
